What is it?
childrenthinking was set up by practising teachers in order to provide support and training in the area of Philosophy with Children. It coordinates a range of courses and systems of mentoring and support for teachers.

childrenthinking exists to promote Philosophy with Children in schools. We do this in a number of ways including running a Philosophy Forum

Philosophy Forum
A non profit-making forum for teachers which aims to raise the profile of PWC through meetings and an interactive website.
  • Coordinates a mentoring system for teachers new to PWC.
  • Provides a discussion forum for teachers of PWC that meets regularly, provides information on conferences, courses and training, and shares practice through an interactive website.
  • Training
We provide practice-based training for teachers and educators in the area of Philosophy with Children.

Karin Murris' work in Philosophy with Children using picture-books is the basis of our work. Karin's work in turn is based on Matthew Lipman's method of Philosophy for Children using specially written texts.

We have developed our own work through experience, training and research and offer workshops that are challenging and thought-provoking as well as highly practical. We will tailor the training to needs of each school/group.

We have completed the SAPERE (Society for the Advancement of Philosophical Enquiry and Reflection in Education) Level 1, 2 & 3 and are currently completing assignments.

    Our training covers 3 areas:

  • Introduction: Starting with Questioning,
  • Development: Progressing with Dialogue,
  • Extension: The Role of Facilitator
